The pride of the Karstenite knighthood, Centaur Knight armor looks like something out of a song. It does more than just cut an impressive figure—it also features the astonishing ability to transform to meet the tactical requirements of different situations. It has both a centaur mode used for command and assault purposes, and a motorcycle mode well-suited for long-range scouting. As such, it can successfully carry out the traditional roles of both light and heavy cavalry. When necessary, a knight can detach the horse-shaped base section to move on foot as an Arche Knight.
Centaur Knight armor might be considered an augmented version of Arche Armor, or an Arche mechanized armored unit built on a larger scale.
In centaur mode it is larger than most Arche armor frames, meaning that it can carry an Arche engine more commonly used in large transports, granting it horsepower disproportionate to its size. As a result, it is both highly agile and extremely powerful. But at the same time, this also makes the armor difficult to control. As a result, most of the nobility are limited to using it during parades and military reviews. Nevertheless, in the hands of an elite operator, it is fully capable of matching mammoth opponents on the battlefield.
The difficulty of handling the armor and the exorbitant cost of manufacture meant that there was some time before it became widely available. It has been used not for large-scale cavalry charges, but rather for command purposes and long-range raids.
Early on each suit of armor was outfitted with the best of everything and often customized for individual knights, with priority given to those of high rank. Later on, as costs came down, new suits came to be outfitted more practically; a volcanic crystal alloy lance with excellent penetration has become standard. These have been issued to up-and-coming young knights with superior bloodlines, in a clear demonstration of the mindset of the Karstenite knighthood.
